You do not need a presentation to have a productive marketing conversation. A few useful facts and a clear idea of the work you want are a better starting point.

The purpose of a strategy call is to understand your business, your market and whether a proposed plan fits. Here is what to think through before speaking with the BVS team.

Describe the work you want more of

“More customers” is a starting point. A specific type of customer or project is easier to plan around.

Think about which services you want to grow, which jobs your team does especially well, and which inquiries tend to be a poor fit. Include the cities or neighborhoods you actually serve. If you are expanding into another area, explain what you can realistically deliver there.

Know what capacity looks like

Your calendar matters as much as your goals. How much additional work could you handle now? What would need to change if inquiries increased? Are there services you can book quickly and others with a longer wait?

Be open about staffing, seasonality and operational limits. A useful marketing plan should take those realities into account.

Bring the numbers you already have

Start with records you trust. You do not need perfect reporting, and it is better to identify a gap than to guess.

  • Your recent advertising spend, if any.
  • The number of inquiries you received during the same period.
  • How many became estimates, appointments or sales.
  • The typical value of the jobs you want to attract.
  • The ways new customers currently find you.

Distinguish revenue from profit and ad spend from other business costs. If a number covers a different period or includes existing customers, say so. Consistent definitions make the conversation more useful.

Show us what a prospect sees

Have your current website, social profiles and a few recent ads available. Think about whether those materials reflect the business as it is today: the team, the work, the service area and the offer.

You can also bring examples of questions customers ask before they hire you. Those questions are often useful starting points for video content.

Ask what the plan would involve

A productive call should leave you clearer on the next step. Ask about the message, the content needed, the campaign approach and how progress would be reviewed. Make sure you understand who does what and which parts of the process depend on your team.

Client results can provide context, but they should not become a promise for your business. Look for a plan that reflects your own starting point and goals.
